Psychology Majors - Preparing for Pre-registration:

  1. Go online to MaineStreet (third tab on the top of eCampus) to develop a tentative Wish List of courses to be reviewed with your adviser. Make sure you complete your Wish List on MaineStreet before going to your appointment with your adviser.

  2. Make an appointment with your adviser to meet during pre-registration.

  3. Bring your file to your adviser’s office during pre-registration week. Your file is available to you at any time – Administrative Assistant’s office - top file drawer on left as you enter her office. When done, return you folder to the basket on top of the file cabinet in Administrative Assistant’s office.

  4. Review the requirements sheet attached inside your folder or the most recent computer audit to identify courses that need to be taken.

  5. You are responsible for knowing course/graduation requirements and for making sure that you are completing all requirements.

The New Registration Process using MaineStreet—For Students:

  1. Log in to Maine Street (using UMF email username and password)
  2. Go to Enterprise Applications
  3. Go to Self Service
  4. Go to Student Center  and select Wish List  under Enrollment
    1. You are limited to 18 credits.
    2. You can do a Wish List with Holds but will not be able to register until Holds are cleared (Check Holds box for further information about your holds)
  5. Use Search for Classes and click search to find courses to add to your Wish List
    1. Type in the three-letter department abbreviation next to select subject and then click SEARCH
    2. You can also use Additional Search Criteria for delimited options (e.g., general education requirements, time and days, instructor) before clicking SEARCH
  6. Click select class  and then NEXT to add the course to your Wish List
  7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until your wish list has no more than 18 credits
  8. Use VALIDATE SELECTED after checking off all the courses on your Wish List (i.e, click on the box before each course) to check for
    1. Prerequisites
    2. Repeats
    3. Closed courses
  9. Make an appointment to meet with your adviser during pre-registration weeks.
    1. You will not be able to register if Wish List is not approved by your adviser
    2. You will NOT be notified when your adviser approves your schedule (RAN number will no longer be issued)
    3. Once you have been approved by your adviser, you do NOT have to go back to your adviser to approve changes.
  10. When it is your time to register (based on credits already completed), check off the boxes for courses in which you want to enroll, click ADD SELECTED and then click FINISH ENROLLING
    1. Check Academic Services, New Registration Information, and Registration Calendar on ecampus to identify the time block for your registration.
    2. If a course is full or has pre-requisites, you will have to get a Permission Nbr from the instructor and type it into the appropriate box to enroll in that course.
  11. Click My Class Schedule and uncheck Dropped Course to see your schedule . Check Week Schedule to see your schedule on a calendar grid.
  12. Can Add, Drop or Swap course from your Student Center as well

Additional recommendations:

For freshman: Make sure to complete FYS 100, ENG 100 or equivalent, PSY 101, and a physical activity (PHE 010) during your first year.

For sophomores: Work on your general education requirements and make sure to have taken PSY 200 by the end of your sophomore year. Consider completing your statistics pre-requisite for Research Methods.

For juniors: Take Research Methods (PSY 400) during your junior year is highly recommended. You should also begin thinking about graduate school (if you are so inclined) and scheduling to take the GRE, MAT, or other graduate school prepatory examination.

For seniors: Complete PSY 484 or 499 and all other psychology requirements. To graduate you must have completed all your general education requirements, major requirements, and a minimum of 128 credits. You should also gather letters of recommendations from faculty for your job search or graduate school applications. You must also apply for graduation by completing the online Application for Degree Form and returning it to The Merrill Center before October 1st.

MHRT-Community Certification
Students interested in receiving MHRT-C certification must complete the MHRT-C Certification Approval Form after completing the necessary courses and graduation requirements. The form can be gotten from and should be returned to the Psychology Department's Administrative Assistant before filing your degree application to ensure that the Counseling track designation appears on your transcript.
